We had the opportunity to talk with mystery producer, MIME. Very little is known about the artist since tracks started surfacing in early 2016 but one thing is certain, MIME has some serious talent! From booming electro beats to heavy basshouse drops, MIME’s diverse style has been blowing up in the dance music community! This week, MIME has stepped forward to talk music with us in this exclusive interview!
How did MIME start and is there any story behind the name?
MIME started when I was actually in a diner in NYC around 4 am, and I was messing around with friends doing mime moves and the rest is really history, thought the name would be a great fit!
How is it being able to release music anonymously and still get such positive reaction on it?
It’s great because it really makes people focus on the music rather than a face or a look. I think its really dope!
You have such a diverse style of music; what inspires you when you make music and how do you decide what direction you are going for in a certain track?
What software do you use to produce?
I use FL Studio, and my favorite plugin is Serum! The basses are so dope!
Which one of your tracks did you have the most fun producing?
Do you have any upcoming tracks you can tell us about?
I have two tracks signed to some dope labels coming soon that I can’t talk about, BUT I did just finish an official remix for Robaer & Plus Minus‘s new track “Love Is The Way”, coming very soon!
Do you plan on playing any shows in the future?
As of now the team and I haven’t been focused on getting gigs but more so releasing quality music! However, very soon hopefully I will be playing in a town near you!
What goals to you have for your music career?
I want to eventually play huge festivals and have a big production show! I also want to sign a track to Monstercat or OSWLA one day!
If you could have one superpower what would it be?
Definitely the ability to fly!
If you could collaborate with one artist who would it be?
Definitely Malaa! He’s so dope and I do definitely get some inspiration from him!
Do you have anything you want to say to your supporters?
Just want to say thanks for taking the time to interview me, I also want to say thank you to everyone who’s been supporting me and my music, at the time of this interview i just hit 3,000 Soundcloud followers, I know its not much but it means the world too me, i cant wait to see where this project takes me!
