EDMSofa Interview: Zack Martino

During 2016, we’ve seen the rise of some incredible talent in the Electronic Dance Music Industry! One artist who has been establishing himself in the scene is up and coming producer Zack Martino! It has been a huge year for the Staten Island DJ as he’s taken his music globally and has been featured on major outlets including SirusXM and Billboard.com! Zack’s production style on his tracks such as “Wonderland” and “Shadows”brings a dark and energetic feel to progressive house music! His work has helped him earn respect and support from superstars such as  Martin Garrix , KSHMR, Blasterjaxx , and W&W! This week, we had the chance to chat with Zack about his signature style, upcoming shows, and what he has in store for the rest of this year!

You’re headlining your first show upstate at the Wescott Theater this Saturday! How excited are you perform and are you debuting any new tracks?

I’m so excited! This show is very special to me since it’s my first solo show and it’s almost sold out! I am premiering three new tracks so I’m really hyped to see the reaction!

How do you get yourself hyped up right before you take the stage?

Before every show I like to just relax with friends before taking the stage. Me and my girlfriend have this handshake we do before every show it gets me amped up and helps me feel not as nervous.

You and aspiring producer REGGIO have released three successful collaborations this past year . Do you guys have any new tracks in the works that you can talk about?

Yes! Some of my favorite tracks I’ve made and have coming out are with Reggio. He’s one of my best friends and every time we FaceTime or Skype we are always coming up with new concepts!

You’ve developed your own signature style that you call “Dark Progressive”. How did Dark Progressive come about and what inspires you when you make this style of music?

This darker sound originated from just listening to some of my favorite bands, Linkin Park and Avenged Sevenfold. I loved how their songs are still so melodic yet have that darker edge to them, and that’s what I was trying to accomplish in my own records.

What VST Synths do you use to produce?

I use Sylenth, Spire and Nexus. I recently purchased Serum and I’m definitely going to be using that in my upcoming productions.

What do you think has been the coolest moment of your career to this point?

One of the coolest moments had to of been going to Mexico to play Electric Oasis Music Festival and seeing fans wearing my merch and holding up signs with my name on it. I had never been to Mexico before this and it really was touching to see that. Also hearing my track “The March” on SiriusXM radio while driving was really epic. 12791128_1151558198201347_2956177061829326812_n

If you could collaborate with one artist who would it be?

If I can collaborate with one artist it would definitely be KSHMR. He’s such an inspiration to me!

This has been one exciting year for the Zack Martino brand! Can you tell us what else we can expect from you for the rest of 2016?

You can expect a lot of new music and a lot more shows I will be playing this year

If you could have one superpower what would it be?

If I can have any super power it will be to teleport. I get very anxious when flying so to teleport could be really cool.

Do you have a message that you want to tell your supporters?

I just want to say thank you to EDMSofa for interviewing me and a big thank you to all my supporters. We are one big family and I wouldn’t be here without you guys. It’s truly a blessing!

Be sure too keep up with Zack by following him on Twitter and be on the look out for some new Zack Martino music coming your way soon!
